Size: 14K Date: 5/30/95
Description:
CapsKey 1.1 - CapsKey is an XFCN, which is a resource you attach to a
Hypercard stack to extend its functionality. You need to copy CapsKey into
any stack that you want to use it in. You can also copy CapsKey to your
Home stack or the HyperCard application itself, in which case all stacks
can use it. If you make a stack that you expect other people to use, be
sure to include the XFCN in the stack itself. There are a variety of
programs you can use to get the XFCN into your stack. ResEdit is a
resource editing program available from Apple. ResCopy is a Hypercard
stack that copies resources. There are others, as well, but those are the
two I know about. The ID of the resource is not critical and can be

blank lines between text. Soto may also be used as a simple and powerful
database. Read the help screen in Soto for complete instructions. Display
the help screen by clicking on the question mark button. Click on an item

Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Hyper:S:ServerMount XFCN 1.0.3.sit
Size: 32K Date: 5/10/95
Description:
ServerMount XFCN 1.0.3 - This package contains an external function to
mount shared AppleShare volumes programmatically from within an HyperCard
application The external needs the System 7.x or the AppleShare
Workstation 3.0 'AppleShare Chooser extension' installed to work. To use
it with System 6 you can install a more recent version (Workstation 3.0.1
or from System 7.1) of the AppleShare Chooser extension with that system
(only versions 6.0.4-6.0.8). The external does test for the chooser
extension version. If an error occurs while determining the version or the
version is not recent the external function will not be executed and an
error is returned. When using System 7 the AppleShare extension file...
Name = ScriptTapper.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Hyper:S:ScriptTapper.sit
Size: 12K Date: 5/09/95
Description:
ScriptTapper - In the eternal quest for HyperTalk knowledge, I downloaded a
script-stealing stack, but it only read stack, card, and background
scripts, and I knew I could do better, so I made ScriptTapper.
ScriptTapper allows you to access any script - scripts of stacks, cards,
backgrounds, card/background buttons, and card/background fields. Best of
all, it's extremely easy to use, presenting lists of cards or backgrounds,
and even buttons and fields - and you can bail out any time with one
button on every card.

Name = InvertMe XCMD Installer.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Hyper:I-L:InvertMe XCMD Installer.sit
Size:549K Date: 5/08/95
Description:
InvertMe XCMD Installer - InvertMe is an XCMD allowing the color inversion
of objects in HyperCard. Color inversion means turning every color into its
opposite on the color wheel. By inverting the color of buttons, you can

create custom effects.
Name = NumStringer XFCN 1.0.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Hyper:J5rson Externals:H-Z:NumStringer XFCN 1.0.sit
Size: 6K Date: 5/08/95
Description:
NumStringer XFCN 1.0 - NumStringer is a function that takes two parameters.
The first parameter is a number that will be operated on. The second
parameter is the number of digits that the first number should occupy. If
the first parameter has fewer digits than the second parameter, the result
will be the first parameter padded with leading zeros to fill all the
digits. If the first parameter has more digits than the second parameter,
the result will be the first parameter. I've found this useful in
applications where I needed to serialize a set of documents and could
simply append a number, and still keep them in order. Click on and/or
examine the script of the button in the stack to see how it works!
Name = Notifier XCMD 1.0.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Hyper:J5rson Externals:H-Z:Notifier XCMD 1.0.sit
Size: 6K Date: 5/08/95
Description:
Notifier XCMD 1.0 - Notifier takes no parameters. When called, it puts a
flashing sicn in the application menu, and marks the application with a
diamond, if the calling application is in the background. If the calling
application is in the foreground, nothing happens. This is useful for long
scripts to let the user switch out of HyperCard and work on something
else, but then let them know when HyperCard is ready to interact again.
Click on and/or examine the script of the button in the stack to see how
it works!
Name = Menu Stack.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Hyper:M:Menu Stack.sit
Size: 8K Date: 5/07/95
Description:
Menu Stack - Ben's Menu Stack is a unique utility for HyperCard that allows
you to access any of your stacks from a user-modifiable menu. It was just
something I thought was missing from HyperCard, and I must say it's very
useful. If you don't like this, please tell me why. If you have any ideas,
I'd love to hear them.
Name = BasicDB XCMDs 1.0.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Hyper:B:BasicDB XCMDs 1.0.sit
Size: 16K Date: 5/03/95
Description:
BasicDB XCMDs 1.0 - For purposes of explaining BasicDB, a HyperCard
environment will be assumed. However, the externals should work anywhere
the basic XCMD interface is supported. See Tech Notes at the end for an
explanation/exceptions. BasicDB is a set of externals that implements a
simple database file system. BasicDB is just that, basic. It is intended
for those developers that do not want to store their data inside of
HyperCard fields inside of stacks, but do not need any of the fancy
relational or other features of higher end systems. A BasicDB file can
contain any number of records. Each record, however, has a fixed structure
of the following - A Numeric key, A String key, Text data, Item ID.

batch processing of text files. You need HyperCard 2.2 and over and System
7 and up to use BulkChange. Basically it allows you to find and replace a
string of any length in a batch of text files. You can select multiple
files in different directories or process the content of a folder. If you
choose to work on the content of a folder you can configure BulkChange to
work on files created by an application in particular. As a commodity you
can also work on a single file at a time. One of my favorite use of
Bulkchange is to modify URLs in a bunch of HTML pages on the Web sites I
maintain or to process text files sent from a FORM page and I can see

Description:
ColorPaint Tools 1.05 - ColorPaint Tools is a long awaited set of tools
that allows you to actually paint or draw in any stack in COLOR! Unlike
most Externals, the pictures you draw don't disappear when an object
crosses their path, and they don't require you to be an expert at ResEdit.
In fact, the ColorPaint Tools palette is so simple, it actually makes the
regular HyperCard Tool Palette look complicated! ColorPaint Tools is not
just a Stack, or set of externals. Its a combination of a Stack, and
Plug-Ins. The Tool Plug-Ins included are - Color Button Tool, Color Field
Tool, Eraser Tool, Fill Tool, Filled Rectangle Tool, Line Tools, Paint

field, a flag indicating a card field, and a quoted string indicating the
styles of the hot text. The id is just a unique number that HyperCard
assigns to every object. The flag should be true if used in a card field,
false if used in a background field. The quoted string can contain any of
the characters biuosce which stand for bold, italic, underline, outline,
shadow, condense, and extend, respectively. These characters can be used
in any combination. The one major limitation of this external at the
moment is that it has to be used with a non-scrolling field. I'm working
on that, but it will take some time. The idea for this external was a

Size:129K Date: 2/27/95
Description:
Break-In 2.2 - Ever wanted to know how a stack was done? Ever lock yourself
out of one of your own stack projects trying to protect it? I must admit
that I first wrote this stack several years ago after I had *yet again*
managed to program myself out of my own stack (some of us never learn to
save copies, I guess). It has allowed me to get into my own stacks and
many others to see how other HyperCard programmers are doing such great
things with HyperCard. I have found many useful programming ideas this way
and am passing this stack on in anticipation of finding more great stacks
out there!
